Nuclear Preparedness Gear List
This page collects every product type recommended across our guides, grouped by what it protects you from. Each section links to the guide that explains why the item matters and how to use it.
Start with the basics that cost little: stored water, a radio, plastic sheeting and a first-aid kit. Detection equipment and respirators come next. No product replaces the most important step in a nuclear emergency, which is getting inside a solid building and staying there; see what to do in a nuclear attack.

Radiation Detection
A detector tells you whether outdoor dose rates are falling, so you are not guessing when it is safer to leave shelter. Check the maximum range: a low-range device can go over-range in heavy fallout. Full explanation: Best Geiger counters for civilians.
